Cloud Backup & Security
Protect your family's cloud accounts: independent backups of email, files, and photos, plus sharing and sign-in settings locked down.
Learn moreA private cloud keeps your family's files on hardware you own, reachable from your phone or laptop anywhere in the world. Cresthaven designs it, secures remote access, and backs it up.
Private cloud storage gives a family a deliberate alternative for information it would rather not keep with a public provider. The starting point is the material: estate documents, family records, photographs, and archives that deserve a considered home. The storage can sit in your residence or in a private hosted environment. Those are different arrangements, and the design should reflect how the family expects to reach its files rather than assuming that buying storage hardware is the entire decision.
Encrypted remote access lets you reach the private cloud from a phone or laptop when away from the property. Personal cloud storage should be useful during travel as well as at home, but access needs to be secured rather than made available casually. We design that connection as part of the system. A home NAS setup is not complete merely because files are visible on the home network. The question is how the family will reach the material appropriately when its members are elsewhere.
Secure file sharing allows selected documents to be made available to advisors such as an attorney or CPA. That is a different requirement from giving someone general access to a family's archive. The arrangement should follow the purpose of the exchange, with the family's records remaining under its control. A private cloud for home use can hold information that has accumulated over many years, so a clear approach to access matters as much as the amount of storage available on the hardware.
The private cloud itself is backed up. Owning the storage does not remove the need for a separate recovery plan; files on private hardware can still be lost if that hardware is the only copy. We consider the cloud and its backups together rather than treating the storage location as protection against every kind of loss. Hardware is quoted separately. The proposed equipment should follow the intended use and environment, with that cost distinction made clear before a family decides how to proceed.
Cresthaven is your one point of contact for the design, encrypted access, and backup of the private cloud. You speak with a human who can explain where the files will live and how the household and its advisors will reach the appropriate material. Our 100% US-based team keeps the discussion practical. Self-hosted file storage should not leave the family responsible for interpreting a technical design or becoming the administrator of the hardware it has chosen to own.
Proactive management keeps attention on the storage and the way it is used after setup. A family archive is not a static purchase: records grow, people travel, and selected files may need to be shared with an advisor. Your point of contact can consider those needs alongside the existing access and backup arrangements. We distinguish control of the primary files from protection of a recoverable copy, so ownership is not mistaken for a substitute for ongoing care.
Private Cloud suits affluent households with estate records and long-lived photo archives, family offices coordinating private documents, and executives who want selected personal files outside a public cloud provider. It also suits multi-property families who need access while away from the main residence. Public services can remain useful for other tasks; the choice here is about the particular information the family prefers to keep on storage it controls.
